In Hornemanns Vænge, five climate adapted courtyards with different LAR-solutions show how strategic planting and LAR (Local Rainwater Drainage) can add both aesthetical and practical value to our everyday cityscapes. Situated in a residential area in Copenhagen, the lush courtyards demonstrate eight different climate adaption solutions that all help slow down the percolation of the local rain- and surface water with methods, ranging from innovative paving to different types and levels of vegetation. Over the following years, the percolation will be closely monitored and analyzed, enabling the assessment of the effects of the different rainwater solutions. The project both creates a new, green and lush environment for the area’s residents and functions as an important study and prime example of how we can actively improve and develop new innovative methods of rainwater management in our cities in the future.
